I usually reply within a few days when the message is something I can act on — a wrong yield, a dead source link, or a clear materials takeoff request. If you need a privacy-related response (access, deletion, or how ads/analytics are disclosed), say so in the subject line and I will treat it under the process on the privacy page.

Spotted a wrong number?

Corrections are the most useful mail this site gets. Every physical constant lives in a materials data file with a source and a verified date. When a manufacturer updates a data sheet — or when a link dies — the fix is to update that row and re-verify, not to argue with a hardcoded number in a component.

Please include as much of this as you can:

• Which calculator page (URL or name — e.g. the concrete bag calculator).
• The constant label or id if you see it in the sources block (bag size, coverage rate, board width, waste default, and so on).
• The document or URL you are looking at, and the figure you expected.
• What the tool currently shows, if that helps pin the mismatch.

With that, I can check the manufacturer sheet, update the JSON, and bump the verified date on the sources block. How constants are chosen and when trade conventions are labeled as such is documented on the methodology page.

Calculator requests

Suggest a materials takeoff you actually need. The useful requests name the material, the unit you buy it in (bags, sheets, boxes, linear feet), and what you are trying to order before a job. Vague “make a remodel cost estimator” mail does not move the queue.

I prioritize tools where I can cite a real manufacturer TDS, code table, or published install guide for every constant the math needs. If a request depends on invented coverage rates or local pricing APIs, it stays off the roadmap — this site is static client-side math with cited numbers, not a SaaS backend. A good reference for the shape of a finished tool is the concrete bag calculator: dimensions in, working shown, sources visible.

• Material: ceramic floor tile
• Unit sold in: boxes (approx. 20 sq ft per box)
• Goal: boxes to order for a room, including a 10% waste allowance
• Reference: manufacturer installation guide at [URL]

What is out of scope

I cannot approve a local building detail, size a structural member, stamp drawings, or certify that a pour or assembly meets code. Every result here is an estimate for quantity planning — check it against your own takeoff and the product instructions for the materials you buy.

Also out of scope for this domain: cost or labor estimators, medical or health tools, and tax or legal calculators. Different liability class, different review standard — and not what this site is for.
