What this site collects
The calculators on Measure the Build run entirely in your browser. Lengths, areas, waste percentages, and other inputs you type are not sent to our servers, are not stored in accounts, and are not required for the tools to function. There is no login.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic — for example page views, approximate location, device/browser type, and referral source. Google may set cookies or use similar identifiers for that measurement. Calculator inputs are not sent as analytics events.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we do not load Google Analytics until you Accept on the on-site consent prompt. If you Decline, the analytics script is not loaded and that choice is stored in your browser. Outside those regions, analytics may load without that prompt. We detect region from our host’s edge country code (Cloudflare), not from a separate location API. Clear site data for this domain to reset the choice. You can learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and manage Google ad/personalization settings at adssettings.google.com.
When you email the address on the contact page, we receive whatever you include in that message so we can reply. We do not sell that correspondence.
Cookies, advertising, and third-party technologies
Measure the Build is built to support display advertising through Google AdSense. The AdSense tag is loaded on every page of this site so that Google can verify the site and, once the site is approved, serve ads on it. Loading that tag may set cookies or read similar identifiers in your browser. No ad slots are placed in the pages yet, so you should not see ads here while that review is pending.
When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser or use web beacons, IP addresses, and similar technologies as a result of serving ads on this site. These technologies may be used to deliver ads, measure ad delivery and performance, prevent fraud and abuse, and — where permitted and consented to — personalize ads based on your visits to this site and other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on prior visits to Measure the Build and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and read more about Google’s advertising technologies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Other advertising vendors or networks may also use cookies or similar technologies when they serve ads on this site. When additional vendors are enabled, this policy or the site’s consent interface will identify them and provide links to their privacy and opt-out information where available. You may also be able to opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at YourAdChoices.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Measure the Build will use a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework to request consent where required before using cookies or personal data for personalized advertising. That consent message is delivered by the same AdSense tag described above. Ad slots will not be activated in those regions before the message is live. When it is, this section will be updated to name the platform and describe how to change your choice.
The analytics prompt described above is separate from that and is already active. It governs Google Analytics only, and it does not grant or withhold consent for advertising.
Essential hosting and delivery may still involve normal web logs on the host (for example Cloudflare Pages): IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamps, and security signals. These logs are used to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the site rather than to build a Measure the Build user account or calculator-input profile.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to certain processing, and — under California law — opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because calculator inputs never leave your device, most day-to-day use creates no personal profile on our side. Email you send us, and data collected by ad or hosting partners when those services are active, are the usual exceptions.
To exercise a privacy request, email with enough detail to identify the request (for example, the email address you used to contact us). We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Where the analytics consent prompt is shown, Decline stops Google Analytics from loading. For ads served by Google, use Google’s ad settings and any on-site consent controls we add when advertising goes live.
Children
This site is aimed at adults estimating home-improvement materials. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If collection practices change — analytics, advertising, or contact handling — this page will be updated and the effective date revised.
