Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your use of Measure the Build, including its calculators, guides, tables, examples, source notes, and related content. By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. Measure the Build is operated by Akshay Thakur.

1. What Measure the Build provides

Measure the Build provides free construction-material estimating tools and educational content. The calculators turn measurements and user-selected assumptions into planning quantities such as bags, boards, sheets, tiles, bundles, posts, or other material units.

The site is intended to make estimating math easier to inspect. It shows intermediate calculations and identifies manufacturer documents, published standards, or labeled trade conventions used for constants where available.

2. Estimates, not professional approval

Results are estimates for preliminary material planning. They are not construction documents, engineering calculations, architectural services, code approval, permit approval, inspection approval, a warranty, or a substitute for a qualified contractor, architect, engineer, electrician, building official, manufacturer, or other appropriate professional.

You are responsible for checking dimensions, units, product specifications, site conditions, local codes, permit requirements, frost depth, soil, loads, wind exposure, installation instructions, waste allowances, package coverage, and current manufacturer information before purchasing or installing materials.

3. User inputs and assumptions

Calculator output depends on the information you enter and the assumptions you select. Incorrect measurements, unit choices, product selections, spacing, waste factors, depth, pitch, or other inputs will produce incorrect results.

Defaults are starting points only. Some defaults are manufacturer values or published standards; others are clearly labeled trade conventions. A default does not mean that it is correct for every product, site, jurisdiction, or project.

4. Product and source information

Product specifications, data sheets, installation instructions, standards, and linked source documents can change. Measure the Build may update, remove, or correct a constant when a source changes or an error is found.

Manufacturer and organization names are used to identify sources and products. Unless a page explicitly says otherwise, Measure the Build is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or acting for those manufacturers or organizations.

Always confirm the current label, technical data sheet, installation instructions, and warranty requirements for the exact product you purchase. If a current product document conflicts with this site, follow the current product document and report the discrepancy through the contact page.

5. No purchasing or project guarantee

Measure the Build does not guarantee that a calculated quantity will be sufficient, optimal, code-compliant, available, compatible, or appropriate for your project. Actual usage can change because of cuts, breakage, defects, over-excavation, uneven surfaces, field conditions, layout, crew methods, packaging, batch differences, or changes made during construction.

You are responsible for purchase decisions, installation decisions, project costs, delays, waste, shortages, overages, and the use of any result.

You may use the site for personal or business estimating and may link to its public pages. You may not:

Unless otherwise stated, Measure the Build’s original text, calculator interfaces, source organization, graphics, and site design are owned by Akshay Thakur and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Third-party names, trademarks, documents, and standards remain the property of their respective owners. Linking to or citing a third-party source does not transfer ownership and does not imply endorsement.

8. Third-party links

The site links to manufacturer documents, standards publishers, government or industry resources, and other third-party pages. Measure the Build does not control those sites and is not responsible for their availability, security, accuracy, privacy practices, or content.

9. Advertising

Measure the Build may display advertising. Advertising does not change calculator results or source selection. An advertisement does not constitute Measure the Build’s endorsement of the advertiser, product, claim, or offer. How advertising cookies and similar technologies are handled is described on the privacy page.

10. Availability and changes

The site and any calculator may be changed, corrected, suspended, or removed without notice.Measure the Build does not promise uninterrupted availability or that every feature will work on every browser or device.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Measure the Build disclaims warranties including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, availability, and results obtained from use.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so part of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Measure the Build and Akshay Thakur will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, project delay, material shortage, material overage, rework, property damage, personal injury, or other loss arising from or related to use of — or inability to use — the site or reliance on a result.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limitations, so part of this section may not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Measure the Build and Akshay Thakur from claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your misuse of the site, violation of these terms, or violation of another person’s rights.

14. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated when the site, law, or business practices change. The effective date at the top will be revised when an update is published. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
